Disabling the Seeq Directory

Overview

For security purposes, some customers may want to disable Seeq Directory, so that users can only log in via single sign-on channels. To accommodate this need, a customer can set the configuration option Authentication/SeeqDirectory/Enabled to false.

When the Seeq directory is disabled, all locally authenticated users will be logged out and disabled, and it will not be possible to create new Seeq directory users.

Setting the option

Setting the Authentication/SeeqDirectory/Enabled configuration option can only be done using the Seeq CLI. Disabling the Seeq directory restricts the capabilities of all users, including admins, so API client with admin privileges cannot be used to modify this option.

After setting this option, the server must be restarted so the changes can take full effect.

Effects

The specific effects of disabling the Seeq authentication directory are as follows:

  • The create user API call will fail, and the add user button will not appear on the administration page.

  • The Seeq directory will not appear in the results from the get auth providers API endpoint, and it will not appear as an option on the webserver login page.

  • All Seeq directory users will be logged out and disabled on server startup. They cannot be reenabled until the Seeq directory is reenabled.
